API 521 - Pressure-relieving and Depressuring Systems: Are you compliant with standards?

Pressure relief systems are the last line of defence against equipment overpressure and loss of containment. Unfortunately however, poor maintenance of these relief systems often contribute to the catastrophic events that lead to fatalities and cost the refining and processing industry millions of dollars.

Over the last few years, The American Petroleum Institute (API) has made significant changes to its 521 standard, “Pressure-relieving and Depressuring Systems.” This document is the standard by which companies are held accountable.
